I felt that the classes were more hands on and that I received better instruction there than at the University I currently attend.

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I had a great host family that was very welcoming and helped me with my language skills. They were polite, generous, and fun.

* Food:

There is no spicy food. They eat a lot of pork and pork products. Everything is very healthy and organic.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The cultural field trip were amazing. Ballet Folklorico and capoeira were my favorite activities.

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? The atm fees are very high. Use cash for most transactions. Take out money in large sums to avoid atm fees.

Language acquisition improvement?

I spoke with my family on a daily basis in Portuguese and with locals. The city I was in did not have many English speakers. I read magazines to help me with my vocabulary.
