Much of the reason we weren't encouraged to use German was because the German teacher that we had at the Amerika Institut was very poor. When we learned very little, we had no confidence to speak. |

| Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? | Find opportunities to practice with locals; exchange english practice for german. Keep speaking even if you feel silly and no one understands you. Just learn to keep trying and laugh at yourself along the way. |
