Study Abroad at SRISA: Accredited Semester - Fine Arts, Liberal Arts and Design

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
There are so many things I learned about art, Italian culture, history, architecture, and the list could go on and on. It was defiantly worthwhile. I am so grateful I had the opportunity to go and that I went through this program.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I learned a great deal about printmaking. It was an awesome experience to explore a new medium in art making while being immersed in the beautiful Italian culture.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I loved that my apartment was so close to the school, great restaurants and museums.

* Food:

WONDERFUL! I have been to other countries in Europe and Italy definitely has the best food.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I tried to speak Spanish as I was told it is very close to Italian but it didn't work out all that well. I would recommend learning some commonly used words and phrases BEFORE you go.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt very safe even when I was walking by myself during the day and evening. At night I was always with at least one other person and we never had any issues.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

If you eat out several times a week it can get a little expensive but if you are able to cook meals at home that can really help. I loved going to the grocery store and learning how to cook with real Italian ingredients and brands.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $150
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Make sure you have a back up account with money.
