What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
The trip to Costa Rica definitely made me more culturally aware. It helped everyone realize some of the stereotypes we may have about others. We were able to let go of these preconceptions and really experience other cultures for ourselves.

The workload during the trip was well balanced. We had class every night and engaged in meaningful conversations.

Dr. Armstrong was wonderful! He knew so much about the local areas of Costa Rica. He was able to introduce us to some new foods, new friends, and new places!

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

The food was absolutely delicious! Rice, beans, rice, beans, rice, and beans.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I loved going to the waterfall and thermal baths! That was my favorite day. Seeing the monkeys and sloths in the national park was really cool too!

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

We always stayed in groups of 3 or more. I felt very safe as long as I was with the group.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

* What did you like most about the program?
  • I enjoyed visiting the waterfall and thermal baths.
  • I am happy that we had to keep a daily journal. I'm so glad I have that to look back on.
  • My favorite activity was zipling!

  • I would like to have been able to attend the student teaching orientation.

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I would recommend this trip to anyone. It was such a wonderful experience. It changed my outlook on life greatly. I wouldn't trade this experience for anything. It was truly amazing.
