St. Cloud State University: Alnwick - St. Cloud in England

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned that i have seen next to nothing of the world as a whole. Because of this, i plan on hitting the road/waves/air as soon as possible to see another part of the world.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Our American professors taught as they would have in the U.S. Our history professor, who was British, only used the lecture method of teaching, which got old. Our contemporary British Studies professor, was excellent and used his vast knowledge of world events to ask us questions which forced us to think critically, this was my favorite class.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The administration in England was very involved. Easy to access. Extremely knowledgeable, and know how to get things done.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

MORE FOOD. Please, dinners were sufficient, but lunches and breakfasts often did not have enough for everybody to eat their fill.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The one week trip to Ireland, the 2 week trip to Amsterdam, Poland, and Italy, and our group trip to Edinburgh were all unforgettable.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

safety was not an issue, our town was extremely safe.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? don't study abroad if you are an introvert. it won't be an enjoyable time for you. a few people on our trip spent more time skyping friends and family back home than spending time with the people they were actually living with.
