About

This 4-week residency in the heart of historic Oxford features weekly, one-on-one tutorials with a University of Oxford Professor in the student's chosen disciplinary/research focus. This independent study earns students 5 credits, designated University of Oxford on their official transcript. The program also includes area tours, acces to museums and public libraries throughout the city, and plenty of time to travel and explore on your own. Students also are enrolled in a 1 credit SIU seminar, Tolkien's Oxford, exploring the places, persons, and events that inspired Tolkien's Middle Earth; this seminar is taught by award-winning Honors Teaching Fellow and Tolkien scholar, Dr. Elyse Pineau.
