What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Though I live in Korea, it was fascinating to meet college students. It was a chance to observe their perspective on society, life, and culture. They were understanding and accepting, and I felt welcomed.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 6 months+

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Students are motivated and delightful once you befriend them. Teaching method is a bit difficult to adapt to due to cultural difference, and it is not polished as it is in American institutions. However, it still fosters a motivating and enjoyable studying environment, and the lecturer/professors I met were approachable and friendly.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

There is a separate site for international administration. Though its connections with the rest of the school still needs improvement, it is quick to answer questions and solve issues as long as you are active about them.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I lived at home since my family lives in Korea. But I learned from friends that SNU that semester was going through dorm constructions so international students are given instructions on getting housing nearby. The neighborhood didn't seem safe and was from the downtown area. But due to convenient transportation, students felt free to travel and enjoy their time there.

* Food:

Food is provided in many places around campus. It is cheap and the quality is great. However, it is important to note that the diet is strongly based on the Korean palette.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The social aspect of the program really depends on how active you are.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

The booklet introduces ways to access health services.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? I live in Korea, so spending was not an issue.

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
