Rhodes College: Oxford - British Studies at Oxford

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
This program provided me with a lot of life lessons; I feel like I know who I am as a person a lot better. I also met someone from my school I had never met before and now she is one of my best friends. My experience was truly amazing. I didn't want to go home in August; I could have stayed for another three months.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The grading was little tough, but I enjoyed my classes, especially because as students we were able to see plays and then discuss them in our classes.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The program was outstanding and I had such a great experience overall, however, like I mentioned before, the food provided by the University was terrible. The service was great, though.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

I got food poisoning. Hopefully they will change this for the future. However, breakfast was always the best meal. Lunch and dinners were bad, so we tried to mostly get our own food for those meals.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I took a Shakespeare class and was able to see a play every week which was incredible! We had optional "excurssions" sometimes on the weekends which were always great. We were encourgaged to go to musuems by our professors. This aspect of the program was fantastic.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

There is a gate with security at every entrance of every college which locks at night and you must use your key fob to get in after a certain time. Safety was always being addressed, and thankfully we had no issues!

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)
