What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
To double check alarms. I missed a flight for weekend travel that had to be repurchased. Other than that, It was very worthwhile. The culture and people were great to see. I was so happy to have got the opportunity to go on this trip.

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Professors and Tutors were great. Pretty good classes, and the daily lectures on special topics were very interesting as well.

Very accommodating and took care of us. Also very friendly in all circumstances.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Stayed in St. John's College facilities. These were very nice and neat. Plus it was a bonus to live in a house older than the USA by more than 100 years!

* Food:

Cafeteria food was more than adequate. Multi-course meals every time and good quality.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The local culture was easy to get ahold of. Everyone for the most part was friendly toward Americans. NO

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

No experience or issues.

* Safety:

Oxford was very safe. No issues at all. Good police presence, and people were friendly and non-threatening.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Staying there was easy. But travel to other areas or countries was most expensive.

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • Great Location
  • Easy travel to most of Europe
  • Program was organized and well staffed
* What could be improved?
  • Get some feedback on what trips were good. Most were, but some were less enjoyable.
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? To book as much travel on the weekends as early as possible. Costs go up later, but early booking can allow you to travel all over the place.

The Avid Adventurer
The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.
