About

The Centre for Buddhist Studies is nestled in a monastery at the heart of Boudha, a sacred pilgrimage site in Kathmandu, Nepal. Students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in authentic Buddhist traditions and cultures while earning credit for their studies.

Our immersive language programs (Tibetan and Nepali) include one-on-one language partners and opportunities for family homestays which lead to rapid language acquisition.

Our flagship Buddhist philosophy courses are taught by Buddhist Monastic Professors (Khenpos and Lopons). Here the classics of the great philosophical thinkers of Buddhism, such as Nāgārjuna, Asańga, Candrakīrti, and Śāntideva. are studied and analyzed, with an eye toward both intellectual and spiritual growth.

Other Buddhist Studies courses are taught by international professors who help students to examine the historical development of the Buddhist traditions and schools of thought with a focus on critical thinking and interpretive skills.

We invite you to join our community in Boudha at the nexus of Tibetan and Nepalese Buddhist culture. Please visit our website for further details.
