PRESHCO: Study Abroad in Córdoba, Spain

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
My Spanish improved! I think it was a worthwhile opportunity to be more independent.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

In general as many people have already noted, the academic rigor is not very high in PRESHCO.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

I really loved the whole PRESHCO team. They are super nice and available. The trip before the term was great and well planned!

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I loved my host family!

* Food:

This just depends on your host family.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Staying with a host family and taking a sevillanas class helped me to feel more integrated. I found it difficult like many other students to make spanish friends, but I don't think the program could do much more.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

Didn't have any health concerns.

* Safety:

I felt very safe in Cordoba. Its nice that the general spanish time table runs later so you feel very comfortable later at night.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

I mean this depends on whether you want to travel, but you get all your food taken care of so it can be quite cheap.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 5 euros

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

They frequently encouraged us to use the language, but I wish that they had been more insistent in the beginning of the program and in the classes themselves.

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Beginner
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? Intermediate
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? 272
How many hours per day did you use the language?
