Oxford Study Abroad Programme (OSAP): Oxford - Study Abroad at Oxford University

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was more than worthwhile, it is one of the best things I have ever done! It was humbling to study with such a brilliant Oxford don, and I learned that although I will most likely never be a Rhodes scholar, if I work very hard with my studies, it will be rewarded! I also learned a great deal about being independent: shopping on my own, budgeting on my own, and traveling on my own. I grew exponentially as a person. I also fell in love with Oxford as a town, and plan on returning as soon as I can.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The Oxford tutorial is like nothing else I have ever experienced in an educational setting. It was an absolutely fantastic and challenging way to learn!

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The OSAP office was very responsive to the needs of the students. Personally, I was without bedding when I arrived and they swiftly provided pillows and blankets within 48 hours. One drawback from our housing situation was that it was in a relatively distant location. I feel that although we may have been the same distance from city center in Jericho, we would have been closer to different pubs and grocery stores.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Seeing a play in Stratford was one of the highlights of my trip. All of the events provided by WISC were very enjoyable and professionally led.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I can't recall such issues arising over the course of the trip

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? STUDY, STUDY, STUDY! You will probably never have the opportunity again to study with such world-class professors, so get the most out of it that you can! Also, take the time to enjoy the beauty of the English countryside that surrounds Oxford. A student who would benefit the most from this program is one who loves to study and loves a good conversation over a pint. Also, those who are interested in history and/or architecture would greatly benefit from spending time in Oxford.
