Oxford Study Abroad Programme (OSAP): Oxford - Study Abroad at Oxford University

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
The tutorial system on its own is very different from the class system in the US. Under the system, I learned to be an independent learner and improved my communication skills. This experience abroad was definitely worthwhile, wish it were longer.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 6 months+

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

You get the best education at Oxford. The 1-on-1 tutorials were intense but worth all the effort.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The admin process (eg. tutorial selection) can be slightly confusing as it differs drastically from how we do it in the US. Wished there was more clarity from the advisor.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Accommodation was slightly expensive but we were taken well care of.

* Food:

Food is great, especially the Formal Halls.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The local students were welcoming.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

Did not utilize health care services while there but there is a nurse on site.

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 50
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Tesco shopping the way to go!
