About

Few will argue that Rio de Janeiro is among the worlds most beautiful cities. Known as the "Cidade Maravilhosa", Rio lies between Guanabara Bay, the beautiful beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema, and Leblon, and a tropically forested Mountain range. The outstretched arms of Rio's Christ Redeemer Statue, set atop Corcovado Mountain's 2,307 ft. peak can be seen from virtually any place in the city. Pao de Acucar, (Sugar Loaf ) mountain and its cable car mark the location where the city was founded in 1565. These two famous landmarks make Rio among the world's most recognizable cities. It is a cosmopolitan city with a wide variety of sightseeing, nightlife and restaurants. Rio's relaxed atmosphere, beautiful beaches and friendly "cariocas" make this city an unforgettable experience. PROGRAMS STANDARD PROGRAM • 20 Group hrs/wk • 60 min class hour • 4-6 Students per class GROUP + TUTORIAL • 20 Group hrs/wk • 10 Private hrs/wk • 60 min class hour • 4-6 Students per class PRIVATE CLASSES • 20 Private hrs/wk • 60 min class hour • 1-1 Students per class EXECUTIVE PROGRAM • 40 Private hrs/wk • 60 min class hour • 1-1 Students per class VOLUNTEER PROGRAM It is highly recommended that students take advantage of homestays in order to practice what they learn in class with their family at home, and to integrate themselves into the Brazilian culture. For this reason, virtually all students stay with local host families which we will arrange for you upon your registration. Accommodation includes breakfast and dinner during the week and also lunch on the weekend. Many different types of host families are available, and the institute attempts to select the best match for each student. Rio de Janeiro has numerous hotels some of which are within a short distance of the school. Hotels prices vary greatly. An extensive list of both hotels and aparthotels is available upon request. Aparthotels normally include a bedroom, living room, bathroom and kitchen facilities. **Visa is required for entry into Brazil for U.S. citizens. Information on visas will be sent to student after Pre-registration form is received. For those traveling from countries outside the U.S., please contact your nearest Brazilian consulate or embassy.
