About

The city of Montreal is unique in North America. It was founded in 1642 by French settlers and retains an old-world Latin pace of life. The old city center still has its ancient stone buildings, stone paved roads and horse-drawn carriages. With a population of 2.8 million, Montreal is the largest French-speaking city in the world next to Paris; yet it has an English-speaking population larger than that of the total population of Ottawa, the nation's capital. Montreal is a gourmet capital of North America with its myriad of restaurants, offering an excellent selection of the world's finest cuisine. Attractions include the 1967 World Fair site with its La Ronde Amusement Park, the 1976 Olympic site, museums, art galleries and the nearby Laurentian mountain range dotted with lakes.

The NRCSA center in Montreal is a leader in language training for cultural and commercial institutions, as well as for individual students. Located in the heart of downtown Montreal, the school offers a complete selection of services and a full range of class levels. Additionally, we are recognized by the Canadian Ministry of Immigration and the Quebec Ministry of Education, as well as by the International Association of Language Centers (IALC). Teachers are university graduates with training in second-language instruction. Teachers use both proven traditional techniques and the latest teaching innovations.

Homestays with Canadian families are arranged by the school. Family accommodation includes a single room, breakfast and dinner. Meals are also provided on weekends. Laundering of sheets and towels is done once a week. The school carefully inspects all homes, and admits only families of good reputation to their accommodation service. The demand for family accommodation is great and requests are filled on a first come first served basis. Most homes are in the suburbs and are within a maximum 60 minutes of the school by public transportation.

The downtown YWCA in Montreal offers accommodation with meals in the on-site cafeteria and use of sports facilities. The residence is 5 minutes walking distance to the school and includes a 24 hour reception. Men and women are housed on separate floors in single rooms. Bathrooms and the central cooking facilities are shared. Each room is cleaned daily and contains a TV and alarm clock. Bed linens and towels are changed weekly. This option is at additional cost.
