Kyoto embodies the essence of the Japanese spirit. Located on south-central Honshu Island where it is cradled by mountains, Kyoto has been a center for art and culture in Japan for the last twelve centuries. The city's history is long, but Kyoto is at the same time forward-looking and well known in Japan for its new innovations. This NRCSA Center is very popular and draws students of all ages from around the world. However, because it is subsidized by the government and fees are quite low, programs fill early. - 4 week July session usually fills by late April or May. - 6 month term beginning in October fills by April or May. - 6 month term beginning in April fills by October. All levels are welcome, beginner to advanced. Many students who complete the Kyoto program go on to work or enter the university in Japan. PROGRAMS SEMESTER PROGRAM -22 weeks in duration -20 Group hrs/wk -45 min class hour -4-18 Students per class.  YEAR PROGRAM -48 weeks in duration -20 Group hrs/wk -45 min class hour -4-18 Students per class SUMMER PROGRAM -4 weeks in duration -20 Group hrs/wk -45 min class hour -4-18 Students per class LODGING HOMESTAY A single room in a homestay with 2 meals per day is provided for students and is included in the program cost. If students would like to stay with Japanese families, they must make their request at least 2 months before arrival. RESIDENCE The facilities is for students can live in relative comfort and security from their first day in Japan . There are two types of dormitories, and students can choose the type that they prefer. Students who would like to enter a dormitory should indicate their wishes when they apply. The contract is for 6 months, and can be renewed once. As a rule, stays longer than 1 year are not granted. Summer program is available. Each dormitory rooms are furnished with a desk and air conditioning. The Residence has public kitchen, bathroom, showers and washing machine. It is located between 10- 20minute walk from campus. HOTELS Business Hotel accommodations near the Center are available upon request and at additional cost.
