About

Bishop's University is attractively situated in Sherbrooke amid the rolling hills and lakes of the Eastern Townships of southern Québec. Sherbrooke is a bilingual city of 166,633 residents. It is a region with some of the finest outdoor recreation opportunities in Canada and less than a day's drive from Ottawa, Toronto, Boston, New York City, and the border states of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Bishop's, an English-speaking institution, was originally founded in 1843 as Bishop's College. It is a university whose primary concern is offering undergraduate students a quality education in arts, sciences, business administration, and education. Its academic programs are broadly based and stress the inter-relationships of disciplines rather than their specializations. Emphasis is placed on personal contact between faculty and students through small classes and frequent use of seminars, labs and tutorials.
