Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

If Tulane continues to offer this program to students they MUST educate their staff on the stringent requirements of this program and this university in particular. Tulane staff have no idea what they are sending their students into, therefore their students have no idea what to expect. Within the Middlebury program there are three universities to choose from, NO Middlebury student enroll in UBA because they know of the impossible requirements and extreme workload involved. While attending UBA should remain an option, students have the right to know what they are signing up for and it is Tulane's responsibility to understand the programs that they are offering to their students.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The program's laissez faire attitude is a necessary evil of trying to live in Argentina but the program did not properly handle the six week siege. All other programs offered alternative classes for students while Middlebury did not, and the support offered was after the fact and not that helpful.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

travel is a must, and the students in the program all have great attitudes and are willing to explore and learn

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

lots of opportunity crime- be careful and conscientious- buenos aires is a big city and people will take advantage of you if they see an opportunity

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $200 a week
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? need money for taxis, food, wine, $140 entrance fee to argentina, $90 fee for visa, and lots of other random fees

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Intermediate
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? 300 level Spanish
Language acquisition improvement?

Lived my daily life in spanish. Spoke spanish with everyone except for friends from the states. Used spanish only in my university, with Argentine friends and in any and all interactions in the country.
