Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

If you push yourself and place yourself into the correct level (or a level that's slightly above reach), then you will be sure to learn a great deal from the curriculum and the really fantastic professors. The language pledge itself is also fantastic for ensuring that you truly learn a great deal.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

In general, the administration were on top of it. But it depends on who you are, and what problems you encounter during the course of the semester. If you turn out to have a serious problem with your host family in some form, there is a chance that the administration may resolve it in a manner that you don't agree with.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Housing was great in terms of my host family.

* Food:

Food was great from the host family.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Pretty integrated- but to be honest- as long as you are someone who doesn't look like an Arab, you will always be treated as a foreigner- that is, until you make close Jordanian friends.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

The city is expensive- Amman is a city where every single person, foreigner or not, gripes over the prices. It's an actual economic phenomenon where the prices of items in Amman are higher than the incomes can support, in general economic speak. Everything will add up, unless you literally do nothing- ever. But that's the same for any city- but it's a surprisingly potent thing in Amman.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 150
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? I would saw take buses and serveeces, but it can be time-consuming.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Intermediate
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? Advanced
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? Probably Advanced Intermediate
How many hours per day did you use the language?
