What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
My study abroad experience was extremely worthwhile and the most rewarding experience I have ever had. I feel like it changed me for the better. I feel more independent and confident. I would love to go back to Europe sometime soon and possibly live and work there in the future.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The MUDEC program is really great and very well organized. There were about 100 kinds in the program. The professors were really great and truly cared about our learning experience while abroad. It is a great program for people who want to travel a lot.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

I think it would have been nice to have been provided with dinner as well. It was sometimes hard to have to make your own dinners with very limited cooking resources and it was too expensive to eat out every night.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The program had speakers come every Wednesday on a variety of different topics. Also they arranged special program dinners throughout our time there. There was a Thanksgiving dinner which was really nice and then a final banquet with dinner and dancing.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Spending money really didn't seem to end because we were traveling somewhere new every weekend and paying for hostels and food. There are definitely ways to find cheap and clean places to stay.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Beginner
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

We were all required to take either French or German while we were in Luxembourg. I French a little bit every day in places such as the grocery store. It was very helpful to know words for different food items and numbers for when paying. In the smaller towns less people spoke English but in the cities almost everyone did and very well.
