London Theater Culture is the Best Past Review

By (English and Theater Studies, Wellesley College) - abroad from 09/10/2012 to 12/14/2012 with

London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art: London - Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I feel like I have a much richer and varied understanding of both Wellesley and the United States. This was definitely worth it in that respect. I also got to take a lot of classes I never would have been able to at Wellesley.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

London is already an expensive city to live in, plus the exchange rate from US to UK. That and there were extra expenses, like food and transportation (taking the tube both ways every single day gets really expensive, and the student card only kind of helps)

* What did you like most about the program?
  • Curriculum - lots of varied classes
  • Instructors - extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and passionate
  • Living in London
* What could be improved?
  • Organization - both within Wellesley and in LAMDA
  • Consistancy - in who was teaching what, in the curriculum in general, in the skill levels of the other students
  • More events to integrate the study abroad students with the other students
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? See everything as much as you can. I went to a show every week and it was the best decision I ever made. I wish I'd gotten to see Bath.
