Korea University: Seoul - International Summer Campus

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learnt so much, not just in class, but about myself, countries where my friends were from, and Korea.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 6 months+

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Took the Social Psychology class. My teacher was really nice and understanding.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Stayed in Frontier and glad I did as it was closer to Anam and our lecture rooms than CJ International.

* Food:

Tried the cafeteria and I enjoyed the traditional local food. Although I would not buy a big package as you would want to do a bit of exploring and eating with other friends who may not have cafeteria pass.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Our KU buddies were the best!! Shout out to Minki, Hyunjic, Min, and Azza!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Really safe here

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

It was so much fun. Definitely sign up for KU buddy program as you get to go to a lot of events for free! Nanta cooking show was really funny to watch. Also I was not that interested at first in the mud festival but my friends forced me to go and it was so much fun. My group also had great KU buddies who would hang with us almost everyday, although that was not the case with every group.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

I think you have to do your research for this one. Download the mango app if you want to find good and cheap places to eat. A lot of my friends thought $100 a week would be enough but I guess it just depends on what you choose to spend your money on.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Not including flights, uni accomodation, and program fees, I spend around $280 AUD a week
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? As previously mentioned, download mango app for food in Korea.

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • Friends & my dorm mate
  • KU buddy events
  • Campus and Korea in general
* What could be improved?
  • Not much I can think of right now
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Don't be afraid to be the first one to say hi in the group chat or ask people to hang, as that's how some great friendships will start. I'm glad I went out for dinner with a few people in my group on the first night as we ended up hanging out almost everyday and we're still friends now.

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.
The Avid Adventurer
The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.
