A Music Experience of a Lifetime! Past Review

KIIS: Salzburg - Experience Salzburg (Summer)

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned that in order to actually learn in another culture, you have to have an open mind and be there to learn not just to have fun. The experience was completely worthwhile and I would actually move to Salzburg if I was able.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Sometimes it seemed like no one made plans in advance and so everything would end up hectic.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

There were too many people for the program to stay in the Hostel and so a few of us were placed in a hotel across town. That was amazing!

* Food:

It seems like everyone in Austria are meat and potatoes kind of people. The food was fantastic and there was always plenty to eat.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

It seemed that after the first two weeks, I was able to travel around the city without any problems. When I attempted to speak German, people responded in German.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I didn't personally have any healthcare problems that needed addressing but we were well informed in case there were any.

* Safety:

There are potential risks wherever you go, but Salzburg seems like one of the safest places in Europe.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

The cost of living wasn't that high, I just bought a lot of souvenirs.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $150
