Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

There was a lot more reading required for classes, but fewer assignments. The grade was given based on either one major paper, or a smaller paper and a comprehensive exam.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

faculty provided helpful support

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I needed cookware, but there was a "pots and pans giveaway" where we could acquire items left by previous study abroad students.

* Food:

learn to cook. it's expensive to buy pre-made meals or take-away all the time.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

days trips to Chester, York, Liverpool, Cardiff, and were cheap and well worth it.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt safe walking around campus at night. Did not have experiences with healthcare needs.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I don't remember exactly, but I think it was about $35 per week. Avoid shopping at the Select & Saves on campus if you can help it. Items are much cheaper at an actual grocery store.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Housing deposit that you get back after you come back to the US

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
