What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes, I loved my time abroad and thought it was something that every student should have the opportunity to experience.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Although it was very diffcult to pick up a new language in such a short amount of time, I really enjoyed my Art of Rome class. In the class we traveled around the city and got to see all of the art first hand.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I loved traveling to the different places in Italy and experiencing the different cultures just around the country. For instance traveling to Florence or Capri, seeing the new sites and different people and spending that time with people I had connected with from all over the US.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I had no safety issues and felt safe the entire time I was abroad. However, my roomate had, had a serious back problem that caused her to stay home from class more than one day. Even after multiple emails, the program had barely done anything to help and she had heard from them days after the had contacted them.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I spent about 20 euro on food each week not inlcuding resturants, I would estimate I spent about 80-90 euro on food/resturants and personal expenses.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? I only had one unanticipated expense and that was for bus fair. I spent 30 euro on a bus pass for the month, however it was necessary to have one. They have workers who monitor who has a bus pass or not and will come on the bus unexpectadly to check. I did have to show one of the workers my pass while I was abroad.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Intermediate
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? I took Intermediate spanish
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

I practiced my language with roomates and classmates, along with trying to communicate with the locals.
