Can't wait to go back to Buenos Aires Past Review

By (Communications and History, University of Pittsburgh - Bradford) for

ISA Study Abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Absolutely, I made great friends, had priceless memories and experiences that none of my friends at home have experienced.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Teaching methods were definitely different, but I suspect that has more to do with the Latin American style than the school

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Awesome! Friendly, helpful and made the experience even better

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The house was good enough and in a good enough area. How ever my host mom was not a good experience, though most people I knew loved their host families, I did not get along with mine.

* Food:

Host family's food wasn't good but that has nothing to do with the program. Argentine food is great in some ways but in others I didn't like it. Either way, I found some things that are now my favorite foods regardless of things I didn't like about Argentine food.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Iguazu, Tigre, asados. Buenos Aires in itself is enough of a cultural experience though

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

It is a big city with its risks but if you use common sense and be careful, you are fine.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Great experience! But don't be afraid to speak up about any potential host family problems, not necessarily little things, but things that could negatively impact an otherwise great experience.
