How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I absolutely loved the experience and it had a lot of different things to offer that wellesely doesnt. i would say it was a lot easier than wellesley but it was just what i needed, it was a great break from the wellesley stresses, and it had incredible bio courses that wellesley doesnt offer.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

the rooms themselves werent that great but the atmosphere, the people that were part of that "college" or dorm were so amazing i wouldnt have traded it for the world

* Food:

nothing really special it was basic dorm food

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

completely, and i made a ton of australian friends that I still stay in close contact with. i also got a job while i was there

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

not easily. everything was so expensive there, if i didnt get a job over there, i would have had a really hard time making it through the semester on a super tight budget and i wouldnt have been able to do half the things i did.

* Was housing included in your program cost? Yes
* Was food included in your program cost? Yes
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? i honestly have no idea it was a lot though
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? get a job while you are over there if you can and if you are going to australia start saving months in advance

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • unbelievable support system through IFSA butler that 100% promoted us to throw ourselves into the culture
  • the dorm or "college" i was living in and the people i met there (and all the activities)
  • all of the traveling and crazy things i got a chance to do
* What could be improved?
  • perhaps getting there a week early instead of two weeks early, although that did give us some good travel time
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? i was going to want to stay for a year
