What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was incredibly worthwhile and I wouldn't change anything about it even if I could. I loved the country and especially the people. It was such a unique experience that I feel incredibly lucky to have had.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I had the opportunity to study some things I wouldn't have otherwise studied in the states (e.g. Maori society). The majority of my internal coursework was unfortunately due around the same time so I have periods in which I was very busy with school work. However, due dates were provided at the beginning of the semester so it was easier to plan accordingly. Class size was generally bigger so it was kind of an adjustment but I knew it was a bigger school so I was kind of expecting it. Professors were generally very helpful and knowledgeable.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I was incredibly lucky with my flat-mates. We all got on so well and they quickly became four of my best friends. The actual flat was pretty nice but heating in the winter months would have been appreciated.

* Food:

My flat-mates and I took turns cooking meals and I think we probably ate better than any other students on campus. We all enjoyed cooking and elaborate meals at that.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The weekend trips and activities put on by IFSA-Butler were awesome. I highly advise anyone who goes with Butler to take every opportunity they provide.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)
