What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Going abroad to Freiburg gave me not only practical, concrete knowledge of issues in current Germany as well as locally and a broader cultural appreciation, but also taught me how to live independently on my own for the first time.

Finances

The euro is expensive against the dollar, but student dining options at the university as well as most grocery stores were reasonably priced.
