Personal Information
How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 6 months+ |
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Did not the area of study I wanted, undergrad program is only middle east/israel studies and hebrew while all the other programs include a wide range of academics. Most of my teachers are relatively sucky with heavy accents. classes are pretty boring |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Not useful at all or did not know what they were doing |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
First time living in dorms, nothing to complain |
* Food: |
worst part of the experience, trying to eat well without getting expensive, meals are almost double the prices than america and a scarcity of cheap fast food |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Better off traveling the country yourself or with a couple friends. By the way most people are this program are weird. If you are a socially normal individual you might only be able to have one or two close friends |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
It's Israel what do you expect, but you would not find yourself in REAL danger |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
No
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
Very expensive to eat well, party and travel at the same time. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | $200 |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Get a lot of money to have a good time, money will dissapear in seconds. you will have to cut down on drinking to since alcohol is very expensive also |
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?
0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language |
Hebrew is REQUIRED to take, even if you have no interest in learning hebrew. stupid |
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | Intermediate |
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? | Intermediate |
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? | if you would you like to learn the language then you will have fun, if not then good luck trying to pass hebrew |

A Look Back
* What did you like most about the program? |
|
* What could be improved? |
|
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | that i can only take boring middle eastern/isreal studies in the undergrad program, i wish i knew how hard it is to find socially normal people, the location of this school so close to shitty arab villages. oh and your sex life almost drops to zero, good luck getting laid in jerusalem |
