University of Nicosia - Global Semesters: Nicosia - Summer in Cyprus

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
This was such an amazing experience. I loved Cyprus so much and was actually on the program where I was able to take a cruise to the Greek islands and visit italy and Greece. I felt that I got to experience so many cultures and really appreciate the unique island of Cyprus. It was definitely worthwhile and I would recommend it to anyone.

* Food:

Who doesn't like Greek food?

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Really only interacted with them when I was out at the bars...more hung out with the Americans on my program

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I actually had a really bad infection. They took me to the doctors right away which was good and reimbursed me for any expenses. I was given an antibiotic.

* Safety:

I always felt very safe....but I also always traveled with at least one other person

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Cyprus is a very expensive place to travel, everything costs more because you are on an island

* Was housing included in your program cost? Yes
* Was food included in your program cost? No
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $200
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Try to cook your own food during the week. I was really good able cooking sandwiches and and breakfast and just going out for dinner 4 times a week. I spent most of my money on going to clubs or traveling and on other experiences...and in that case I say save no money because it is worth it.

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No
