About
Friends for Asia offers several different volunteer projects and internships in Bangkok:
Women Empowerment: Young women — especially those from broken homes — face a range of challenges in Thailand. By signing on with the Women’s Empowerment Project, you’ll join forces with a local foundation dedicated to eradicating these social stigmas and equipping young women with the support and tools that they need to lift themselves out of poverty.
Medical Internship - Shadow full-time doctors conducting surgeries in the OR and making rounds in some of the best private and teaching hospitals in Thailand. Thailand is the preeminent medical tourism destination, and for our interns more relevant experience than just about any internship in the West could offer. Return to medical school with a clear-cut advantage over your peers.
English Education Volunteer Project - A lot of Thai students grow up thinking that their English ability is next to nil. But sometimes, a few confidence-boosting classes with a native speaker – where they’re understanding more than they expected to and communicating right back – is all it takes to change their minds. As a volunteer English teacher, you become a catalyst for student development.
Teach English to Buddhist Monks - Of all the opportunities to volunteer in Thailand, teaching English to Buddhist monks commands the strongest following. Each of our volunteers is assigned to a specific Buddhist temple, where they instruct novice monks in daily English lessons. This sort of candid, behind-the-scenes access to a working Buddhist monastery is difficult to match.
Kindergarten Volunteer in Bangkok - For children this age, school is all about planning activities, building social skills and learning how the world works. So if you plan on signing up for the Kindergarten Teaching Project, prepare to have a lot of fun. During the school hours, you’ll spend your time looking after children aged 3 to 5 in one of Bangkok’s slums.
Orphanage Volunteer in Bangkok - Working with children is one of the most rewarding ways to volunteer in Thailand. It’s obvious from your first day on assignment that these kids are delighted that foreigners take a genuine interest in their lives. Volunteers at the Bangkok orphanage project work Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Refugee Volunteer in Bangkok - Bangkok is a key crossroads of Asia, and it’s home to a dynamic mix of international communities. There’s a unique dynamic at play in this project. Most of the asylum seekers hail from Central Asia and have been relocated to Bangkok because of religious persecution.
*All of Friends for Asia’s Bangkok volunteering and internship projects are a two-four week minimum and include orientation and training, accommodation, and 24-hour support along with international injury and accident insurance.
