Florence: The TIme of My Life Past Review

By (PSYCHOLOGY., Providence College) for

Florence University of The Arts: Florence - Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes...I learned a lot more about myself. I came back with a lot more appreciation for my home life as well. It has impacted my cultural awareness a lot, but has no changed my academic interests or future plans

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The workload was a LOT less than at home...the grading system was different, based more on participation than at Providence.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The head administrators were not very involved with the students over here, other than at the orientation and the first weekend trip that we had here.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

Eating in is cheaper

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

We traveled to a lot of different places.. I got to experience/and see a lot of different cultures, so that was interesting

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Florence is VERY safe. I never felt unsafe, even at night. I never had to go to the local health place, so I do not know how it compares to at home. There wer eno health issues in Florence, and I did not need any vaccines prior to coming here.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Food..I did not think I would spend as much on food. Also, socializing and going out costs a lot more here than back at home.
