Fairfield University: Florence - Semester or Year in Italy

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes. It was the best semester I have had so far. I learned a lot about myself and made so many memories.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I was able to take classes that fulfilled core requirements at Providence, not for my major. I really enjoyed them.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

I thought FUA was a very good institution and was very helpful during my time abroad.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I had an apartment with two girls from Fairfield and one girl from Providence.

I really liked the location of our apartment, it was right near school and everything we needed.

* Food:

We made all our food, and bought our own food at the supermarket.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I made new friends abroad and had a great experience being with new people.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I never got sick.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? That food is cheaper in supermarkets farther away.

Language

Language acquisition improvement?

Because I had never taken Italian before, I was able to learn the basics of the language.
