Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Fundamental business classes were challenging but manageable. Professors are extremely helpful and lenient. Classes were conveniently scheduled so that students have a 3 day weekend. Classes meet once a week for a 3 hour session. Professors were available outside out of the scheduled class time for any help needed with assignments.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The European Study Center faculty and administration was the best resource when first adjusting to life in Germany. Interns and program manager living on site were available at all times of the day for any questions or concerns. Administration set up many informational and education sessions to help students familiarize themselves with German customs and learn basic German. Cell phones were provided for all students to keep in contact with administration and other sites while traveling.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Most students are provided with a single and some students request to have a room mate. Rooms were very clean and provide all necessities. (towels, linens, bedding). Communal bathrooms are kitchens can sometimes had maintenance issues but were fixed accordingly (ex. no hot water, clogged sink etc.). Living areas are spacious and comfortable .

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Heidelberg was an extremely safe city. Most people speak english and I never had any issues communicating with locals. Traveling at any time of the day I never felt unsafe.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 200 euros
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Beside living expenses, plan out where you would like to travel and how many places you would like to go to, this will help you have an idea of how much money you should set aside for traveling expenses.

Reasons For Studying Abroad

The Avid Adventurer
The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.
