EF - LEARN A LANGUAGE ABROAD

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I love traveling abroad and this trip just reaffirmed that.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The local tour guide was very helpful and just fun to be around.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The hotel was beautiful and had great food!

* Food:

I was not a huge fan of the food, but I did not eat at many good restaurants.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Never had a problem, was aware of pickpockets so I felt prepared.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

EF is a great program to work through because they plan everything for you and you do not have to do anything on your own. They also give you options for extra activities and having a local tour guide with you every step of the way makes you feel like you fit in more.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Everything was very affordable, I almost had a hard time spending money.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Could easily live off 100$, but I spent about 200$ on food.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No

  • the architecture
  • the overall atmosphere
* What could be improved?
  • Where the good local spots are
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I want to be more aware next time I go abroad about where the locals go. I want to get away from the tourist areas and visit the areas that the locals are going to to see what the town really has to offer.

Reasons For Studying Abroad

The Nearly Native or Trail Blazer
Craving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.'
