Immersive and diverse learning experience with lots of opportunities for travel. July 31, 2026
By A student (Neuroscience, Wellesley College) - abroad from 01/16/2026 to 05/14/2026 with
DIS Copenhagen: Semester
As mentioned previously, I learned a lot about the social systems and culture of Denmark and got to experience the cultures of other countries that I traveled to as well. The teachers I had also were from a variety of countries and had so much knowledge to share, even outside of academics, with their students. I absolutely believe this experience was worthwhile, as I felt like I was able to become more knowledgable on the experiences of societies outside of the US.

Yes
While academically, the program was not a rigorous as Wellesley classes, it is a great experience for those looking to get a really good immersive experience in the local culture while also having time to travel and experience other areas of Europe. The classes were designed really well and very enjoyable. I felt that I learned a lot about Denmark's culture, economy, and social systems through the classes that I chose. |
Finances
|
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
| Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | Around $100 per week |
| Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | I would save up much more than you expect you need, especially if you are looking to travel a lot while abroad. Plane and train rides are actually more expensive than I had expected, despite many countries being so close by, at least around Europe. I saved ~$4000, but went through most of it in my time there and only went on a few trips. |

A Look Back
| * What did you like most about the program? |
|
| * What could be improved? |
|
| * What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | I wish I learned more about specific expenses before going so I could have saved up even more money. I also wished I knew more about how classes were set up since some had very reasonable workloads while others (mainly in the art departments) had some very time-consuming projects. |
