What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Im going into the health field, and it has been incredibly valuable to compare the systems abroad to gain a different perspective on the specific downfalls of the US system.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I had a great educational experience. All of my instructors were incredible and engaging in and out of lecture. It's rigorous but not too hard, the hard part is staying focused on homework and assignments while exploring the city.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Absolutely loved our housemates, most of them were extremely welcoming and warm!

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

n/a

* Safety:

There was never a time that I didn't feel safe here!

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Unsure
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Look at the amount that you think you will need for this trip and then add $1000. For myself and many other students we took short weekend trips, went to events, restaurants, malls, museums etc. and got souvenirs. I have a friend that had to buy an extra suitcase in Copenhagen because of all the stuff she bought. So you will still have a good time within budget BUT I highly recommend the additional savings to get the most out of the trip.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • The trips organized by instructors
  • Living with danish students
  • The independence\
* What could be improved?
  • unsure
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I wish I knew how expensive things would be. But the high costs make sense especially if you're doing a lot of 'tourist' things. Germany and Holland were the most expensive places I went. But within Scandinavia, its still expensive but not as bad. I live in downtown Boston, and I would say its quite comparable in price.

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.
The Nearly Native or Trail Blazer
Craving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.'
