By (Wellesley College) - abroad from 11/01/2020 to 12/18/2020 with

DIS Copenhagen: Semester

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I gained a lot of insight into cultures outside of the US, such as the different values, lifestyles, food, fashion, etc that exists. It's definitely worthwhile

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

DIS did not handle the covid situation well near the end of the program. They did not offer to reimburse us for extra tests we may need to travel home, when someone got covid they couldn't bring her food for the first day because of "short staffing" problems, and they sent someone home on a plane who was actively showing symptoms of covid. Ultimately, I d0 not think the program assisted us well with traveling during covid times.

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

I think DIS could have done a better job with immersing us into the Danish culture; for instance, host families, dinners, and activities with locals.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $250
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Denmark is very expensive, it's important to understand the cost-of-living before arriving and budget.
