DIS Copenhagen: Semester

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
This is a really wonderful program and Copenhagen is such a fun city. The Danes are super nice, and they all speak flawless English. Travel out of Copenhagen is a little more difficult than maybe from other places in Europe like Paris or Berlin, but it's such a nice, hidden treasure that makes it worth the extra money. Also, the three week travel break was amazing. The best part of the program was (after meeting really fun fellow Americans from all over the country) the study tours that DIS takes you on. They are unlike anything that any other program has and they make the entire experience.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The medical practice and policy program was so great. We got to see so much more stuff than would ever be allowed in America because of privacy and liability laws.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I lived in an apartment building about half an hour away from the school. DIS kids occupied the entire first floor in the building. It was kind of like a dorm, but you cooked for yourself and the laundry situation struggled a bit.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Copenhagen is a super safe city. I usually walked home late at nigh with a group of girls, but even the occasional time I walked home by myself after a night out, I felt completely safe.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Each week I spent between 100-200 dollars. Copenhagen is very expensive! I spent another 5000 in addition to daily expenses on travel.

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
