DIS Copenhagen: Semester

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I realized how important making international relations is and how beneficial it is to learn from the successes and failures of other people/countries. I came away from my study abroad experience as a more well rounded and independent person. I came away from Copenhagen sure that I would be back some day in the near future.

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Fantastic! Very helpful!

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

It was hard adjusting to the high prices of food with a fairly limited food stipend but in the end it was fine.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

DIS requires you to participate in various cultural immersion activities. However, it is left up to the individual to decide how truly connected to the Danish culture they are. I loved taking part in the Visiting Family program! As well as, occasionally heading out to practice with the Exiles Rugby team

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

There was never a time where I felt unsafe in copenhagen!

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Copenhagen is EXPENSIVE!

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $100
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Pack lunch every day. Try not to spend a ton of money eating out each week! Save that money for when you travel. The more you save in cope the more you will have later on.
