Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Workload was fine- less than at Middlebury. I learned a lot, but definitely didn't feel the same connection to my teachers that I do at Middlebury. The grading seemed pretty average.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Very organized. A lot of resources. Great planning on trips and study tours. Everything seemed to run very smoothly.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

I cooked for myself... I was satisfied.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

loved the study tours and field studies. The people I met on this program were awesome. I loved everyone in my dorm. All around a great time.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Copenhagen is incredibly safe. I never felt like I was in danger.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

Danish is a really hard language. I am also not great at learning foreign languages. I definitely learned some basic Danish, but not a ton. But the Danish language and culture class was really interesting. The culture component taught me a lot.

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • The people
  • Being in a city
  • ability to travel
* What could be improved?
  • more student engagement in classes.
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? really fun program. the fact that you can easily travel is AWESOME, and you have a two week travel break just for this purpose. DIS is very organized, so you never feel like you are completely in the dark/ on your own. Middlebury's classes are definitely better than those at DIS, but I still think my experience was valuable.
