CYA (College Year in Athens) - Semester/Academic Year Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I experienced so much joy and a new found sense of independence while studying in Greece. My experience was cut short due to COVID-19, yet it was still truly a transformative once in a lifetime opportunity I will never forget.

Studying abroad in Greece is amazing in it of itself. However, studying with College Year in Athens brings it to a whole other level. The faculty and staff truly care about their students like no other academic institution. The program is self contained (not connected to another university in Athens) which makes the atmosphere that much more personal and family-like, and they do teach in English (most people in Greece can speak English). Through studying with CYA I came to understand what the phrase “welcoming you with open arms” is truly all about…there’s nothing like Greek hospitality! The academic schedule allows for an excellent balance of time for adventuring on your own or with your new friends. As a female, I can say I never felt scared or threatened wandering through the streets of Athens on my own, day or night. Greece is a relatively affordable country to live in for the semester which makes traveling within the country that much more accessible. Although being located in Europe makes traveling to other countries easy access, there is soooo much to do in Greece — there are more historical sites and islands to visit than you will have time for! The food, the architecture, the history, the culture, the people, even the amazing weather, why wouldn’t you want to study in Athens, Greece with CYA!

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.
The Avid Adventurer
The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.
