Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I am so satisfied with experiences here. I was taking courses in EM Strasbourg (1st semester) and IEP (2nd semester). This program gave me good chances to take proper classes for me like this because I am law major and I wanted to study business and law in France. I really appreciate this. Class: I took classes like European integration, European economic policy, International law or European convention of human rights. Some other classes are not organized enough and confusing but most of the courses are interesting and these are not exactly that I have taken in my home university. That really helped me understanding things well. In the classes here, there are basically few French students and most of the students are from all over the world such as Europe, N America, South America, Africa, Middle east, Oceania, and Asia. It was exciting and we had good time to get in touch with them. We were not busy all the time so I was going out with my friends in the chateau or them.

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I'm really happy to stay in such a beautiful place and have nice breakfast every morning. Also, stuff here are so kind and helpful.

* Food:

Breakfast makes me happy every morning. I usually cook for lunch and dinner. Cost of living is cheap compared to Tokyo. You can save money to eat and spend more to travel. However, there are no place to grab something to eat around this place and most places are closed every Sunday.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

My French friend in the university took me some home parties and I experienced some French culture but basically I feel like I live separately from real French culture.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I went to see a doctor few times but I've never felt fear. Stuff here helped me doing something anytime I need.

* Safety:

Strasbourg is very safety. I often saw girls walking alone in the city in the night.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Things I like very much are - living in this beautiful chateau and relax to have breakfast with talking - stay with nice students in the chateau - studying what I am interested in - places to meet new students in the university (depends on how productive the person be) - people can learn both English and French - don't have to worry about too many things because staff help you - live in nature and very beautiful city (especially spring-fall)

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

I didn't need to pay much money besides trip.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? About $50

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

I didn't learn French and came here for taking academic courses in English. I am not a native English speaker and had English skills just for studying. Now I live with American students and speak English in the chateau and the school all the time. I was not confident to speak foreign language though I learned English for 10 years in my home town. But I feel relaxed to do it now.

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Intermediate
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? Intermediate
How many hours per day did you use the language?
