Study Abroad in Milan, Italy Past Review

Bocconi University: Milan - Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Everything I've already said. It was expensive, but you have to live it out to the fullest while you're there. If you hold back and stay in a routine, it wont be as memorable.

Personal Information

The term and year this program took place: Fall 2008

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The courses weren't too difficult. They were just disorganized and mostly lecture based with minimal interaction. The biggest downside was the fact that your entire grade was based off of one exam.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Alright I guess? I didn't really use it.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

It was a lot of fun living with so many exchange students in one hotel. This is what made the experience awesome. The only downside was the 20min tram ride every morning to class.

* Food:

Really good Italian food can be pricey. The cheap stuff that they sell on the streets isn't bad but you get what you pay for.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Like I said, I met so many people and had a lot of fun hanging out with them. I also made a good group of friends with whom I traveled with on weekends.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

No problems.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

Language acquisition improvement?

I definitely used the Italian that I knew to get around. But, most people in Milan speak English to some degree anyway and you wouldn't be completely lost if you didn't know Italian.
