About

Undergraduate students at BIOS can participate in a variety of summer and fall semester courses, gain valuable laboratory and field experience as interns, and work on collaborative research projects alongside BIOS faculty. The courses, provide students the opportunity to study topics in marine science that might not be offered within the curricula of their home institutions.

This summer's courses are Modern Observational Oceanography, June 15-July 3, Ecology and Evolution of Reef Fishes July 6-24, and Coral Reef Ecology: Reef Response to Environmental Change, August 3-21. Partial scholarships may be available to all students.

NSF funded Research Experience for Undergraduates-REU enables 8 undergraduates to spend twelve
weeks at BIOS each year, with mentorship from a BIOS scientist as they conduct an independent research project. Travel expenses, room, board, and a competitive stipend is included.
