Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

This was an intense Chinese program so there was five hours of Chinese class a day, so there was a lot of work!

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The director of the program was new and many students often felt like he was rude and condescending to us.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The program told us we would have Chinese roommates but because it was the summer the students were already out of school. However, they failed to mention that before we arrived. However, the dorm was pretty nice

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

It was very hard to integrate with the local culture because we did not live in a homestay or have Chinese roommates.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Things are pretty cheap in China but Beijing has a lot of markets so you tempted to buy a lot of stuffy

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

We were supposed to have a 24/7 language pledge which they did not do because we were a summer program (which was annoying) but they still encouraged us to speak Chinese

How many hours per day did you use the language?
