What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I gained responsibility and really learned what it was like to be on my own. It really helped me grow as an individual and I wish I could do it over again.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I really enjoyed the courses that I took because they were very much integrated into the culture and lifestyle of New Zealand.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I love Uni-Flats.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt really safe in New Zealand, their campus security is also everywhere and will walk anyone home that is walking alone.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I love Jane and all of the people working for the ArcadiaNZ Program. They are so helpful and really encourage everyone to explore as much as possible while still keeping up on their work.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

It was about the same as living off-campus at Arcadia. There was no meal plan so I was buying food and making myself dinner every night. They have a really cheap brand called Budget and it was really easy to have healthy, filling meals on a budget.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $50
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Try to implement flat-meals within your flat. It saves so much money by splitting the groceries between 4-6 people and it is so much easier to eat healthy when you are not cooking for yourself every single night.

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.
The Avid Adventurer
The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.

Comments: It was such a great course to take! I learned so much about the history of New Zealand and their indigenous people. The exam was really simple and the 2 essays were explained so well that it made it so easy to complete.
