Australia: A Once-In-A-Lifetime Experience Past Review

By (Marketing., Providence College) for

Arcadia: Brisbane - Queensland University of Technology

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Absolutely, once I got over the stress of work, I was able to go places I'll never be able to go again. I'm very glad I chose to study here.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Not many projects/assessments, but the ones I had were very time-consuming and quite difficult. The grading system is rough and it takes getting used to.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Very organized and well-planned. I have no discrepancies.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

My own room, bathroom, and shower. 6 rooms per apartment, and we share a kitchen, so we got to know one another.

* Food:

No food provided (besides some BBQs and free dinners put on by Arcadia). I have to shop every week, and cook a couple times a week. Teaches me how to fend for myself though, which is good.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

AFL football game, Byron Bay, Melbourne, Pancake Manor

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Very very safe city! Don't go into the Botanic Gardens at night though.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Budget 100 dollars/week max. You're gonna spend a lot of money, especially on trips.
