About

The Law School is located in the historic center of the city of Ghent, Belgium.  While occupying a number of historic buildings from the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries, it has modern teaching facilities including well-equipped computer facilities and excellent libraries on domestic, foreign, European and international law.

The University's Law School presently offers professional degrees in law, criminology, and notarial practice as well as postgraduate programs in European law, the Economic analysis of law, business law, environmental law, port and maritime sciences, and criminology.
The Program is offered fall semester only, from late September until January.  It is possible to make arrangements for exchange students to take exams before the end of the semester in order to return to Washington in time for the beginning of spring semester.

The official language of study is Dutch. However, exchange students can take English-language courses offered by three postgraduate programs, the Master programs on the Economic analysis of law, European criminology and criminal justice systems, and the program on Law in Europe in a comparative perspective. A growing number of courses are taught in English.
